Time for a Great Smile
Even if you think you’re too busy to care for your teeth, these five tips will ensure that you’ll never miss a date with the dentist again!
“This year, I resolve to take better care of my teeth!” said hardly anyone ever. That makes us sad. In our books, a healthy, beautiful smile is right up there with a healthy, beautiful body — and you don’t even need to watch your diet or slog at the gym to achieve it. All it takes is a little bit of effort and some of your time.
Contrary to popular belief, even the busiest of us has time for a dentist appointment. If you need a little help, use these tips!
Lock it in, and work around it
Now’s a great time to call your dentist, say hi, and book two appointments for this year. With the dates locked and loaded in your calendar months in advance, it’ll be easier to adjust your schedule around it instead of working with a moving target.
Find a strategically located dentist
Ideally, your dentist should be located near your home or office, or be situated along commuter routes that you typically take. This makes popping in for your appointment so much more convenient (and makes finding excuses to skip it harder).
Manage your own (time) expectations
When making your appointment, ask for an estimate of how long the procedure will take, so that you can manage your before-and-after schedule more effectively. It’s best to give yourself some buffer before and after the appointment, lest you find yourself in a time crunch.
Get laser-sharp timing
You can also save time by asking for laser-assisted procedures, if your dentist offers them. Laser dentistry for filling cavities or root canal treatment, for example, is generally faster and more accurate — less time in the dentist’s chair, and less recovery downtime too. As an added bonus, laser-assisted procedures are less painful and more comfortable (think: no scary whining noises).
Always aim to be five minutes early
To cut waiting time down to the bare minimum, always aim to be early for your dentist appointment. While that may sound counterintuitive, understand that most dentists run on a full schedule. So, if you’re late, there’s a chance your dentist will attend to the next patient first. On the flip side, if you’re early, you may benefit from someone else’s tardiness!
With these tips, we think you’ll hard-pressed to find an excuse not to visit the dentist this year! The basis of a beautiful smile is a healthy one, so give your pearlies the care that they deserve. If you’d like to enlist the help of the smile doctors at i.Dental, request for an appointment today!
